When Morons Leave Comments

I think the comment below speaks for itself.....the comment is in response to a post I made about an interview Ann Coulter did with CBC television in which she insisted that Canada sent it's army to fight in Vietnam. Obviously this is not true, Canada never sent it's army to fight in Vietnam and the interviewer rightfully called her out on it. Anyway I'm pretty sure the comment below was written by an American, because honestly I don't think a Canadian would be so ignorant/stupid/dense about their own history.

In any case we have yet another reason for reforming the American education system.

Stumbled upon your page and saw the video. A quick Google search of Vietnam and Canadian troops in fact shows Ann was correct and the interviewer was wrong. Ahh yes ignorance must be bliss huh? Don't let the facts get in the way when puking your opinions. Perhaps you might consider checking on your sources before spreading lies. Congratulations, you are now "Ignorant Ass of the Day"

The Road to Guantanamo

YOU MUST WATCH THIS!!!

Bush officials draft law to protect administration from war crimes

President George W. Bush's administration drafted amendments to the War Crimes Act that would retroactively protect policymakers from criminal charges for authorizing any humiliating or degrading treatment of prisoners, lawyers who have seen the proposal said.
The move by the administration is the latest effort to deal with treatment of those taken into custody in the war on terror.
At issue are interrogations carried out by the CIA and the degree to which harsh tactics such as water-boarding were authorized by administration officials. A separate law, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, applies to the military.

you've got to be kidding me.....how the hell can they do this.......and why the hell doesn't anyone stand up to them!!!

The White House, without elaboration, said in a statement the bill “will apply to any conduct by any U.S. personnel, whether committed before or after the law is enacted.”
One of the two lawyers said the draft is in the revision stage but the administration seems intent on pushing forward the draft's major points in Congress after Labour Day.
“I think what this bill can do is in effect immunize past crimes. That's why it's so dangerous,” said a third lawyer, Eugene Fidell, president of the National Institute of Military Justice.
Mr. Fidell said the initiative is “not just protection of political appointees but also CIA personnel who led interrogations.”
Interrogation practices “follow from policies that were formed at the highest levels of the administration,” said a fourth lawyer, Scott Horton, who has followed detainee issues closely.
“The administration is trying to insulate policymakers under the War Crimes Act.”
A White House spokesman said Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions includes a number of “vague terms” that are susceptible to different interpretations.

The administration believes it is very important to bring clarity to the War Crimes Act so those on the frontlines in the war on terror “have clear rules that are defined in law,” said the White House spokesman.

yeah I bet

fucking bush....makes the laws, breaks the laws and then reforms the laws

Qana killings could breach world law: UN

United Nations, Aug 9: Israel's deadly attack on the Lebanese village of Qana could be part of a "pattern of violations of international law", UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has said, calling for a more comprehensive investigation into the July 30 bombardment.

Annan made his assessment in a letter to the Security Council calling for more information on the attack.

"The attack on Qana should be seen in the broader context of what could be, based on preliminary information available to the UN, including eyewitness accounts, a pattern of violations of international law, including international humanitarian law, committed during the course of the current hostilities," he said.

"I have repeatedly condemned all actions that target civilians and I again call on all parties to the conflict to respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and, in particular, to take all necessary precautions to spare civilian life and property." Expressing distress at the "tragic events" in Qana and the overall effect of the conflict on the civilian populations of both Israel and Lebanon, Annan said it was a "level of seriousness that requires further gathering of information, including violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law."

Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land: Media & the Israel-Palestine Conflict

I watched an incredibly disturbing video last night, Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land, and I just thought I'd share it with all of you. The video is similar to my previous post about censorship in America about the mideast crisis, in fact it even includes many of the same excerpts. The difference however is this one is an hour and 20 minutes and goes extremely in depth. It was concise and easy to understand......I definitely recommend it to anyone who wishes to understand the basic facts of the Israeli\Palestinian conflict. It is however also a documentary that should be viewed by every American and Canadian alike, regardless how educated they are on the matter. Lesson to be learned (among many): don't believe everything you see on TV!!!

Watch above or at your own convenience here

UPDATE: the above video is not working at the moment....but since i have no life, I'm slaving away trying to fix it. Until then, you can click here to watch
